Willian Lentz is a Brazilian composer, conductor, classical guitarist, and music educator based in Curitiba. His artistic practice encompasses composition, conducting, performance, and education, with a focus on contemporary concert music and its diverse forms of expression.

He holds a PhD in Music from São Paulo State University (UNESP), a master’s degree from the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR), and a bachelor’s degree in Composition and Conducting from the School of Music and Fine Arts of Paraná (UNESPAR-EMBAP). He also pursued orchestral conducting studies at EMESP Tom Jobim and the OSESP Academy of Music.

Lentz’s music has been performed throughout Brazil and internationally, including in Spain, the United States, Italy, Ukraine, and England. His works explore contemporary musical languages through a practice that connects composition, sound, performance, and research. In 2020, he received an award at the KLK New Music Composers’ Competition for Ar Diamantinado, for string orchestra. His chamber opera A Fome dos Cães (The Hunger of Dogs) was premiered at Theatro São Pedro in São Paulo in 2022, while A Máquina Entreaberta, commissioned by the Festival Amazonas de Ópera, premiered in 2021. He has also been a finalist at the Tinta Fresca Festival, promoted by the Minas Gerais Philharmonic Orchestra.

Lentz is a member of the Curitiba-based composers’ collective Círculo de Invenção Musical, through which he collaborates on contemporary music projects and festivals. As a conductor, he has worked with orchestras and university ensembles throughout Brazil. He currently serves as conductor, musical director, and coordinator of the Youth String Orchestra of the Solidarity Foundation in Curitiba.
